Hi all! As many of you know I’m working at my summer camp job right now, where my ex and I met. Well, he’s working here too and things have honestly been pretty tense these first couple weeks. We hashed things out and it’s a LOT better, though still not perfect.
I’m happy to say that I’ve finally let some grudges go that I had been holding onto for far too long. I still find him obnoxious but it appears he has actually grown up a bit since our breakup. We’ve worked through a bunch of issues and he now knows just how shitty my year was this past year so he understands the anger that I’ve held against him these past few months.
To add to everything, he is pursuing a girl who is also on staff…….who has been dating her boyfriend for 9 months and who she lives with. Obviously it’s none of my business but there’s no way for me to get away from this — I work closely with them and 10 other people and there literally is no way to avoid it. They are with each other ALL the time. As I’ve gotten to know her as a friend I’ve talked to her about her boyfriend, who she says she’s “very happy” with and apparently it’s relatively serious. I’m kind of waiting for the shit to hit the fan on this one… I’m still glad that I came to work at camp this summer and I knew things were going to be awkward, but I just wish there was a way to get away from all this other crap.
What really sucks is that I can’t figure out how to direct the remaining frustration and anger towards him in a productive way while still maintaining a professional relationship with him. I’ve tried just ignoring him but then I’ve come off as icy and a total bitch. I’ve tried being his friend but then he goes off and says “isn’t it funny how bad things had gotten?” and I get mad because it was just SAD how bad things were by the end. Any time we talk it gets to an awkward conversation about our past relationship and I just get angry.
I’m really not looking for advice, just wanted to post an update.
